It is important to realize the study was not intended to show whether or not acai berries could prevent leukemia in people. However, they were encouraged by their findings because as Stephen Talcott, assistant professor at the UorF said, “we are encouraged by the findings, however. Compounds that show good activity against cancer cells in a model system are most likely to have beneficial effects in our body.”

Acai is said to have an extremely high level of antioxidants when compared to other fruits. Brazilians have used acai berries to treat digestive orders in skin conditions for years. Companies to sell acai products say that it can help consumers lose weight, lower cholesterol, and gain energy. However, Talcott said most of those claims have not been tested scientifically.

Blueberries contain an array of antioxidants while having a lower natural sugar content than many other fruits you can care to mention. Lemons, limes and other citrus fruits to are proving to have many such phytochemical properties as well. The particular combination of properties found in tart cherries offers an anti-inflammatory benefit, which is appreciated by those suffering from joint pain caused by arthritis, gout, fibromyalgia or over-exertion. We have all been informed of the essential health benefits of certain vitamins and minerals but these are being looked at in depth as well. these have anti-viral and anti-fungal properties that can be of benefit to people.

These compounds can help or suppress harmful body aging processes that often end in heart attacks, stroke, faulty blood pressure, and Alzheimer’s disease. Others found in tomatoes make this one super-food in the prevention of heart disease. Using concentrated tomato in the form of puree, sauce and juice is an even more efficient way of increasing intake of this fruit. In the heat of summer, a watermelon can be one of the most refreshing of fruits but it has also been found to have a range of the most important phytonutrients so far discovered.
