Does it actually matter where you buy the Acai Berry products? Sure! Not all the Acai berry products are manufactured to meet the same equal quality standards. There so many factors that go into the processing of the Acai Berry Fruit, those customers should know what to look into before buying!
Given the abrupt popularity of the Acai berry, many companies are jumping on the highway to produce as many Acai berry products as they can. That means the customer needs to do their research to find a producer that hasn’t taken any shortcuts in their Acai berry processing and ingredients. If we are not alert, we could end up with an Acai product that has lost its energetic properties, is full of fillers or has useless chemicals.
Before you pay for the Acai berry fruit products, make sure the supplement you perform some simple but most important checks on your Acai berry product:
1) Certified Organic Acai berry. When using non-organic Acai berry fruits, you could be exposed to pesticides and other unsafe chemicals. A genuine company will produce a certificate to show their Acai product is Certified Organic. Non-organic antioxidant Acai products can have chemical pesticides, herbicides and other toxins.
2) Acai Berry Must Be Processed Within a Day. Carefully shipping the Acai berry fruit, often called The Crown Jewel of the Amazon, across the world is not a simple task! This extremely strong Acai berry starts losing its vigorous properties within 24 hours of being picked. As you can see, for companies that care about producing a quality Acai berry product, this is no simple accomplishment.
3) Acai Berry Should be processed at Brazil. Many Acai Berry products on the marketplace today are processed in China, where they are known for using cruel chemicals and they do not have any rules for pesticide use, nor do they have organic principles. The Acai berry processing plants in China often use unregulated soy, fillers and/or chemicals in the extraction process.
4) Acai Berry Products Includes Freeze-Dried and Not Spray Dried Acai. To save the Acai berry’s nutrients, Acai must be freeze-dried. Spray drying processing involves heating the Acai berries at high temperatures, which kills the active properties. In this process, Acai berries are also sprayed with a carrier such as maltodextrin to dry them out. When this happens, a large fraction of the resulting Acai berry powder is in fact maltodextrin.
5) Acai Berry Should not Involve Heating Process. During standard pasteurization, high heat is involved. Any Acai berry juice product should only be flash-pasteurized, which does not damage the enzyme level of the Acai berry and is FDA accepted.
6) Acai berry does not contain Fillers Such as Soy or Maltodextrin in Processing. During the extraction of the Acai berry pulp from the pit, fillers, chemicals and carriers should not be used. These items used in the production process remain a part of the end product, but are not required to be listed on the label because they are not assumed to be an “added ingredient.”
7) No Fillers or Water Added to the Acai berry Product. Adding fillers makes the Acai berry fluffier and bulks it up, so you are not getting as much Acai berry. Check the brand for such fillers as soy, corn, maltodextrin, water and plenty of other concentrated fruit juices. After all, when we buy the Acai berry product, we want Acai.
No Added Sugar, synthetic sweeteners, Fructose or Stimulants. Look to see that the Acai berry product does not have added sugar. Sugar is not nice to our immune systems, weight and it can reason inflammation. Also, some Acai products may have added stimulants like caffeine or Guarana.
9) No Chemical Preservatives are used in Acai Berries. If we are seeking a dietary product for our health, why would we want to eat chemicals along with it? For example, Sodium Benzoate appears in our soda and snack cakes, but why would we want it in our health foods? In 2006, the FDA re-opened their researches into the use of Sodium Benzoate in soft drinks, because of the detection of the breakdown into Benzene that can take place when mixed with ascorbic acid (vitamin C).
10) Antioxidants Lab Testing done on Pure Acai berry Product. Make certain the company’s reported (antioxidant levels are based upon tests done on their actual Acai berry product and not just reports from Acai berry right off the tree. Just because Acai Berries have a high ORAC score when picked, does not mean it still does after the manufacturing.
As we can see, not all Acai berry products are created identical. Actually, an individual will have a hard time finding the Acai berry that can pass all 10 checks.
